Aman Oberoi

B.A., J.D. / Partner

I studied history at the University of British Columbia before earning my law degree from the same institution. I returned home to the Fraser Valley to build a practice that would reflect my values—clarity over jargon, and long-term thinking over quick wins.

My legal work spans civil and commercial litigation, regulatory defence, real estate and construction disputes, and select family and estate matters. I also maintain an active interest in business law—regularly advising entrepreneurs, professionals, and closely held companies on structuring, transactions, governance, contract drafting, and growth. I like to make deals happen, and whether I am directly involved or not, I often connect my clients with the right professionals to get the deal done. I am often involved from inception to sale, helping clients build businesses with strong foundations and clear operating frameworks.

I am most often retained in files where facts are novel or unusually complex, and where the personalities involved are no less so. I seldom advertise, and I try not to overpromise. Most of my work comes through personal referrals and referrals from other lawyers.

Clients who retain me also gain access to my wide-reaching network of professionals—including engineers, accountants, valuators, planners, and lawyers across other firms and specialties. I draw from this network as needed to support my files with the right expertise, efficiently and discreetly.

I take calls directly and am accessible to my clients. I work with clients to shape legal scope around their budget. And while my online presence is minimal by design, those who find me tend to stay.

I value the trust my clients and colleagues place in me, and I invest in those relationships with a long view in mind.

I am a director of the Fraser River Community Crematorium Society and an avid marksman. I also take on pro bono cases from time to time, quietly, for those with nowhere else to turn. Outside of work, I spend time with my family and friends, and maintain a keen interest in architecture and design.

I am proud of the firm I helped build—Alliance Lawyers—a practice rooted in quiet competence, shared responsibility, and a certain resistance to trend.
